You gave me a beautiful shawl
To use in the winter weather.
As chill is not here this year
I feared the shawl would stay boxed.
Then I looked at it folded so neat.
How can I use this gorgeous red wrap?
It has the red of the rose’s hips,
Luscious and plump for bird in the lane.
From the tissue paper I shook the shawl,
Stretched it over my table of oak.
It is glowing smart and new near the window wide
Where I read, write and view all who pass.
